Description

The CAPF (AC) Examination is conducted by UPSC to recruit Assistant Commandants in India’s paramilitary forces. The exam provides an opportunity to serve in the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB as Group A officers. The selection process consists of a written examination, physical efficiency test (PET), medical examination, and interview/personality test. The exam is held annually, and notifications are published in leading national newspapers and the UPSC website in April.

AFCAT Examination

Applications for CAPF are available online only on the UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in. The offline application process is no longer available. Candidates must register using a valid email ID and fill out the application form after the official notification is released.

Eligibility For AFCAT Written Examination

Eligibility criteria, including age limits, educational qualifications, and physical standards, are published in the official notification on www.upsc.gov.in.

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: 20-25 years (age relaxation as per government rules).
  • Nationality: Indian citizens only.
  • Gender: Both male and female candidates can apply.

Exam Pattern of AFCAT Written Examination

The CAPF exam consists of two papers:

  • Paper I consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions with negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • Paper II is a descriptive paper that tests essay writing, comprehension, and precise writing skills.
  • Candidates who qualify for the written exam will be called for Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) and Medical Examination.
